A Roy woman was in stable condition in St. Benedict's Hospital Monday following a single-engine airplane crash Saturday at the Ogden Municipal Airport.

Helen L. DeCost, 45, suffered facial and neck laceration when her husband, Albert W. DeCost, 45, lost control of their Piper Cherokee when he attempted to land.Albert DeCost told investigators he came in too low and couldn't get enough power to lift and recover.

The plane banked left and its wing struck the airport fence before the craft smashed into a hillside about 75 feet south of U-79 and broke into at least two pieces, said Ogden Police Lt. Clark Combe.

The pilot was also taken to St. Benedict's Hospital where he was treated and released.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident.
