Interlake Material Handling Division of Lisle, Ill., has acquired ATI, a computer hardware/software engineering group based in Salt Lake City that specializes in control systems for the material-handling industry.

The acquisition includes the purchase of ATI's assets, engineering equipment and resources, according to Ralph J. Olson, Interlake president.Jim Petersen, ATI's president, said his company was incorporated in 1982 and has experience in material handling automation including design and implementation of controls for flexible manufacturing systems and automated warehousing and distribution systems.

He said the acquisition will strengthen ATI's ability to expand and allow the company to benefit from Interlake's growth. Petersen has been named director of controls technology for Interlake.
