Puerto Rican authorities Thursday seized a twin-engine plane carrying more than 1,200 pounds of cocaine valued at $720 million after it landed at an abandoned air strip 75 miles outside of San Juan, police said.

Police said they arrested six people after a car chase and gunfire exchange with the suspects. No one was injured.

Agents of the United Force of Rapid Action, or FURA, a special division of the Puerto Rican police force, confiscated the cocaine, the plane and two vehicles used by the suspects.
