Government aviation regulators on Wednesday said they grounded a California cargo line for multiple violations of federal safety requirements.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an emergency order revoking the operating certificate of Ameriflight Inc. of Burbank, Calif.

The company provided scheduled cargo service in the Western United States using a fleet of about 90 planes, most of them small propeller-driven craft such as Cessnas and Pipers, according to FAA spokesman Elly Brekke.

The airline was grounded following a special FAA inspection conducted March 14-April 26.
