A Salt Lake County man was charged on Monday with attempted criminal homicide in connection with the shooting of a man following an argument early in the morning of June 16, court records said.
Joseph Simons, 34, was charged in 3rd Circuit Court. Bail was set at $20,000, the records said.
Simons was arrested at his home following a shooting that wounded Roger Allen Tschantz, 28, in the stomach. Tschantz was in stable condition in Pioneer Valley Hospital Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The two were arguing about their children when Tschantz was shot with a hand gun, the records said. A Salt Lake County Sheriff's detective said "too much drinking" was involved in the incident.
