Boyd's appointment is effective July 1. It was approved by the U. Institutional Council Monday."Boyd has established an international reputation through his research in polymers, and his teaching and administrative services have been of great service to the university and to the state," said Joseph L. Taylor, vice president for academic affairs.
A member of the U. faculty since 1967, Boyd was awarded the American Physical Society's 1988 High Polymer Physics Prize for his molecular studies of polymers.
