Bountiful Lions Club members expect to complete a new bowery in Bountiful City Park, Fourth North and Second West, by the end of June.
When completed, the Lions will have expended more than 300 man-hours constructing the picnic area. It has a concrete floor, is about 20 feet wide and 30 feet long, is open on the sides and has picnic tables with benches. The new bowery, which can be reserved by calling city Parks and Recreation Department officials, is located near Fourth North near the park's Rose Garden.
The Lions have built other boweries at the park, just east of the outdoor swimming pool, and recently completed a fountain in the Rose Garden. Several years ago, the Lions Club donated a hot tub to the city that was built at the east side of the outdoor pool.
Club members also donated $1,000 to the Utah Lions Foundation and $500 to Lions International Charities Foundation in June.
Funds for charity and civic projects are obtained annually through the Lions Turkey Shoot, held the Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving, and other fund-raising events.
