The Rocky Mountain Talent Search of the University of Denver has recognized 12 Murray School District and 106 Salt Lake School District seventh- and eighth-graders as academically talented.
The students who qualify pay a fee that permits them to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test, which is is usually given only to high school juniors and seniors.Those who are recognized scored at least 430 on the verbal portion and at least 450 on the math portion of the SAT. The school districts use the information provided by the tests to recognize the students and provide special services to them.
The Rocky Mountain Talent Search serves seven Western states. This year, 2,840 students participated in the program.
