A 30-year-old Moroni man was only unsupervised for about 10 minutes when he hung himself with his belt in the Sanpete County Jail early Sunday morning.

Scott Wayne Murdock was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and brought to the jail about 5 a.m. He was booked at 5:30 a.m. and discovered hanging in his cell around 5:40 a.m., said Undersheriff Wallace Buchanan."There was about seven to 10 minutes between the last time he was noticed and the time he was found hanging," Buchanan said.

Jail personnel attempted to revive Murdock with CPR but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead in the Gunnison Valley Hospital.
