One company's misfortune may be another's good fortune.
Take the case of Martin Door Manufacturing, a Salt Lake-based steel door manufacturing company that has sent 20 truckloads of doors to the Henderson, Nev., area to replace those damaged in the May 4 explosion at Pacific Engineering Production Co.The explosion killed two workers and injured dozens of other people. The powerful blast also ruined doors at the company plant and damaged residential garage doors up to several miles away.
Nevada Overhead Door, the Martin Door dealer in Las Vegas, reported an immediate increase in repair and replacement door orders.
Pacific Engineering, one of two U.S. firms producing ammonium perchlorate, a fuel oxidizer for the space shuttle's rocker boosters, suffered severe damage in the explosion and the total loss will be in the millions of dollars.
