A Utah truck driver has been arraigned on murder charges in connection with a shooting death at a bar on Albuquerque's west side.

Elmer Wade, 59, of Kanab was being held on $100,000 bond at the Bernalillo County Detention Center in the death Wednesday of Louie Anaya.

Wade also is charged with carrying a firearm into a bar and tampering with evidence.

Anaya, 39, was shot after 1 a.m. in the bar, said Sgt. Ruth Lowe of the Albuquerque Police Department.

Wade and Anaya apparently did not know each other, but began arguing just before the shooting, Lowe said.

Wade, who works for an Arizona trucking company, was hauling roofing material and stopped in Albuquerque, authorities said.
