The City Council may decide July 13 whether to revoke the license of a new bar where loud noise, knife fights and drug violations have forced police to respond to more than 25 calls each month, 23 more than average.
Sgt. Jim Foster, a South Salt Lake detective, said the Police Department plans to serve a notice-of-cause order to the manager of the El Nortinos bar, 2741 S. State. The management will have 10 days to respond before the City Council.Since the bar opened four months ago, Foster said, police have made 80 calls on complaints ranging from curfew violations to drug abuse. Police have responded to 21 disturbing-the-peace calls; 16 fights, three involving knives; two complaints of drunken driving, two drug-related problems and a variety of other calls.
