The Air Force Wednesday awarded a $20.8 million contract to Herm Hughes & Sons, a Utah builder, to construct a repair-and-maintenance building at Hill Air Force Base.

Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, said an Idaho firm was low bidder on the project, but that its bid was rejected for technical reasons. Hansen asked that the normal six-month appeals procedure be speeded up and the contract was then given to Hughes, the next low bidder.
