There's no question that realignment and the extra classification diluted the depth of Class 6A. Of the 16 teams that qualified for the playoffs, six have sub-.500 records. The result figures to be a lot of blowouts in the first round of the state tournament at SLCC on Tuesday.
After that, the tourney should get very, very interesting and might match the late-round excitement of last years tourney.
Copper Hills and Fremont are probably considered the slight favorites to meet in the championship after winning their respective regions. But, there are five other teams that probably have a realistic shot of playing on the last day as well.
In alphabetical order, these are the teams that have qualified for the 6A girls state basketball tournament, and the list includes the two Region 2 teams who have a play-in game on Saturday.
