Fremont senior wrestler Chris Caldwell advanced to the 152-pound semifinals of the 5A state wrestling tournament with a broken back.

He basically snapped off the lowest vertebrae at the Layton Invitational earlier that season. Two doctors told him he would never wrestle again. A third specialist told him he wouldnt risk paralysis if he wrestled again, but that he would eventually need to have his back fused.
