With both the BYU and Utah 2018 schedules already announced and the end of this year's football season closing in with the Super Bowl next week, it's a good time to take a look at what's ahead next season for the Cougars and Utes.

What lies ahead for BYU

While the College Football Playoff ended mere days ago, it is never too early to look ahead to next season. However, it can't be denied that BYU fans are perhaps less optimistic after a dreadful 2017 season. But in the offseason, hope springs eternal.

BYU's slate includes two teams likely to start 2018 in the Top 10 if not the Top 5. This schedule is just as difficult as last year's, which means Kalani Sitake and his new offensive staff have their work cut out for them as they prepare for September.

The Pac-12 didn't look good in bowl season as the Utes were the only team to win their bowl game, so plenty of programs will be looking to put the conference back into College Football Playoff contention.
