The Utah Jazz advanced to their second consecutive berth in the Western Conference finals and fourth in six seasons after a 98-93 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Lakers. Utah won the series 4-1.
Karl Malone led the Jazz with 32 points and 20 rebounds. John Stockton made 11 of 13 shots for 24 points, including eight in the final four minutes. He also had 10 assists. Bryon Russell added 22 points and defended Kobe Bryants airball 3 at the end of regulation.
