The Utah Jazz outscored the Golden State Warriors 89-82 over the final three quarters of Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals Thursday night at Oracle Arena.
Unfortunately for the Jazz, they trailed by 18 after the first and couldnt catch back up and fell, 115-104. The Warriors now have a 2-0 lead in the series.
Gordon Hayward led all scorers with 33 points. Kevin Durant led the Warriors with 25.
The Warriors finished with 33 assists on 42 made baskets.
Utah cut the deficit to six in the third quarter and seven with 2:06 remaining, but never got closer than that after the opening minutes.
The series now shifts to Salt Lake City for Games 3 and 4. Game 3 is Saturday night at Vivint Arena. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. MT.
Gordon Hayward scored 12 points, and the Jazz cut the deficit to 10 points after three quarters, 92-82.
In another back-and-forth frame, Utah trailed by just six before Golden State got it back up to 15. The Warriors led by double digits for most of the rest of the quarter before the Jazz trimmed the lead down to eight. A tricky shot by Matt Barnes in the final second got the lead back to 10.
Hayward has 24 points to lead all scorers. Draymond Green has 21 for Golden State.
After a back-and-forth second quarter, the Jazz trail by 13, 60-47.
The Warriors stretched their lead to 20 at 47-27 before Utah cut it to 10 with 2:41 left in the frame. Just 95 seconds later, however, Golden State had it back up to 18. The Jazz outscored the Warriors 7-2 over the final 60 seconds to get it back down to 13.
Golden State is shooting 57 percent from the field. Utah is shooting 49 percent.
Draymond Green leads all scorers with 15 points. Gordon Hayward has 12 to lead Utah.
The Jazz were overwhelmed in all phases of the game and trail 33-15.
In the first 2:40, the Warriors got out to a 12-3 lead thanks to shooting 5-of-6 from the field with five assists. Utah was 1-of-3 in that same span.
For the quarter, Golden State shot 14-of-23 with 11 assists, while the Jazz went 5-of-17 with four assists. The Warriors are outrebounding Utah 12-7.
OAKLAND, Calif. — The Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors will square off Thursday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals at Oracle Arena.
Trailing the series after a 12-point loss in Game 1 on Tuesday, the Jazz will be without starting point guard George Hill as they try to avoid being down 2-0 when the series shifts to Salt Lake City for Games 3 and 4.
Shelvin Mack will start in Hill's place.
The Warriors, on the other hand, will have the services of star guard Stephen Curry, who left Game 1 with an ankle injury.
In Game 1, Golden State scored 29 fast break points compared to just six for Utah en route to the win.
