TJ Haws, left, and Jesse Wade both have been honored as Mr. Basketball and served in the France Lyon Mission

BYU guard TJ Haws served as a missionary in the France Lyon Mission and returned home last spring. One of the missionaries also serving in that LDS mission is future Gonzaga guard Jesse Wade.

Wade was named the 2015 Deseret News Mr. Basketball after scoring 1,367 points at Davis High and averaging 26.8 points per game as a senior. He committed to play for the Zags in 2013.

Wade is expected to return home from his mission this spring and join the Bulldogs for the 2017-18 season.

Haws was the 2014 Deseret News Mr. Basketball out of Lone Peak High. He and Wade were never companions, but they did spend time together in France.

“We went on a few exchanges and I got to see him a few times. We talked a little bit,” Haws recalled. “It was really cool. He’s a great missionary and it was fun to be out there with him. It was fun to talk hoops a little bit. He gets home in a couple of months and it will be fun to see him again.”
