Santa Cruz, Calif. In their first regular season matchup of the season, the Salt Lake City Stars (6-17) fell to the Santa Cruz Warriors (13-10), 113-104, at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Six Stars players scored in double figures. Sunidata Gaines had a team-high 23 points off the bench. Utah Jazz assignee Joel Bolomboy registered his eighth double-double in a Stars uniform with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while L.A. Clippers assignee Diamond Stone also notched a double-double, adding 13 points and 12 rebounds.

In a game that saw 12 lead changes and five ties, the Stars were unable to hold on down the stretch as Santa Cruz went on a 16-2 run midway through the fourth. Marcus Paige hit a corner three to tie the game with five minutes left, but Salt Lake City was never able to regain the lead.

The Stars have scored 100+ points in a season-high tying three straight games.

The Santa Cruz Warriors were led by James Sutherlands 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Golden State Warriors assignee Kevon Looney chipped in 18 points and 20 rebounds.
