Weber State had been placed on probation for committing NCAA rules violations. Idaho State had five of its top players suspended for the season after being charged with shoplifting.

So there was plenty of verbal ammo for the Big Sky rivalry. With the Wildcats pulling away for a 75-61 victory, even Idaho State coach Herb Williams got into the act.

Williams, apparently fed up with one particular Wildcat fan on the front row, pulled out a wad of currency, held it up and yelled, "Here's some money. Why don't you buy some better players?"

The Wildcat fan hurled a jibe right back. "Here's some money. Why don't you bail your players out of jail?"
