After three years of frustration, BYU ran past Utah 37-17 at Rice Stadium to clinch a berth to the WAC championship game.

The Cougars ran the ball an almost unheard of 63 times, piling up 366 yards. Brian McKenzie racked up 176 yards and freshman Ronney Jenkins got 156. It was the first time BYU had two running backs get more than 100 yards in a game since a win over Utah in 1986.

BYU passed just 12 times and got 70 yards, the fewest since a 1975 loss against Colorado State.
