Alta and Springville compete in a UHSAA 4A semifinals game at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Springville wasn't scared of Josh Davis or Alta's high powered offense in its 42-14 win over the Hawks. If fact, the Red Devils' offense looked like the dominant offensive team today, compiling 442 yards of total offense, 401 coming via the run.

The Red Devils were led by running back Payton Kelepolo, who finished with 33 carries for 239 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Jantsen Thorpe punched the ball into the end zone four times from the 1-yard line.

Alta just wasn't able to get things going, especially in the first half. The Hawks offense had just 118 total yards in the first half, accounting for zero points. Josh Davis was held in check by the Red Devils' defense, finishing with 95 yards on 15 carries and a lost fumble.

Alta was able to get some offense going in the second half. Quarterback William Dana threw a 31-yard TD pass to London Rockwood in the third quarter and a 24-yard TD pass to Landon Mayfield in the fourth. Dana finished 19-31 for 279 yards and the two touchdowns.

Springville will face the East Leopards next Friday at Rice-Eccles Stadium for the 4A state championship.
