PROVO, Utah — State park managers and recreationist on Utah Lake say the body of water has been maligned over the years, but it's getting a second chance as a spot for fishing, sailing and more.
The Daily Herald in Provo reports (http://bit.ly/29x7Gq5 ) that the lake earned an undeserved reputation for being unclean and unsafe because of the murky color of the water and pollution that occurred in the '70s and '80s but has since been cleaned.
Utah Lake State Park Manager Jason Allen says visitation rates have increased since he started working at the park in 2007, but that it's still mostly and unloved park.
The Utah Lake Commission has been working to improve Utah Lake's reputation by improving access points on the lake, water quality and shoreline areas. They also host events to attract visitors.
