Mourners around the globe paid their respects to the 49 people who died when a gunman attacked a gay nightclub in Florida over the weekend in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
Thousands crowded the streets Monday around the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan where large-scale gay rights activism got its start in 1969.
In the city where the shooting happened, thousands of people gathered to support victims and survivors. Many in the crowd in downtown Orlando said they were inspired to attend because the Pulse nightclub played a big role in their lives.
