PROVO — The BYU rugby team stormed out to a 28-0 lead en route to a 49-12 victory over Utah in the Wasatch Cup on Friday at South Field.
Ricky Tu'ihalangingie opened the scoring for BYU and Calvin Whiting added a pair of tries for the Cougars, who successfully defended their Wasatch Cup crown.
Luke Mocke's 52nd-minute try proved to a critical moment, putting the momentum back in BYUs favor. From there, the Cougars closed out the win.
The four-time defending national champion Cougars improved to 19-0 on the season. They will next face Arizona State on April 9 in the opening round of the Varsity Cup playoffs.
