With baseball season just around the corner, a fun story by Paul Caputo on SportsLogos.net delved into the history of how the Ogden Raptors got their nickname.

As Caputo tells it, the team was going to be called the Trappers when it was founded in the 1990s, hearkening back to a Salt Lake City minor league team that had since left Utah, when management decided to hold a naming contest for fans.

The winning submission came from a 10-year-old girl named Tracy, who still regularly uses the free tickets she was given as a prize and now brings her family to games.

"It turned out to be the best thing we ever did," said team president Dave Baggott.
