CEDAR CITY — No. 23 Southern Utah University scored a 49.450 on floor to cap a season-high 196.300 and best No. 3 Michigan (195.750) and UC Davis (194.025) Friday night inside the Centrum Arena.

Natalie Trejo, one of three seniors honored after the meet in SUU's last home contest of the season, finished the night with a 9.9 on floor after Virginia Brownsell's career-best 9.95 clinched a victory for the Thunderbirds.

"I thought the girls put together an amazing meet," SUU head coach Scott Bauman said, afterward in a news release. "From the get-go on vault, from the very first kid to the very last kid on floor we put some of our best gymnastics out there. I couldnt be more proud; I couldnt be happier for the girls."

Michigan struggled with a season-worst score, despite gymnast Brianna Brown capturing the night's all-around title with a 39.225. Trejo's 9.875 gave her a share of the beam title on the night and Brownsell won the floor title with her 9.95.

"Its surreal," Trejo added. "Its a dream come true ending for sure, to compete in the Centrum. Beating a top school and doing our best gymnastics, that was a really cool feeling."

SUU continues its season on the road for the rest of the season. The T-Birds will compete at BYU next Saturday and at No. 15 California on March 4 to start that stretch.
