Milwaukee Bucks' Jabari Parker plays against the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016.

Jabari Parker, the celebrated Mormon basketball player, was in town for the Jazz-Bucks game on Friday. He met a day earlier with the media, several of them inquiring about his ties to Utah.

Turned out there weren’t any.

Asked if he ever came close to attending BYU he said, “No.”

Does he keep in touch with his cousin, golfer Tony Finau?

“Naw. I don’t.”

Does he have any real connection to Salt Lake, or is it just another NBA city?

“I have few friends, a couple of relatives, no family.”

In that case, here’s a hint to the out-of-towner: try Ruth’s Diner or Crown Burger and watch out for the speed trap at the Salt Lake Airport entrance.

Oh, and don’t call it an inversion. Call it mountain mist.
