The Utah Grizzlies began and ended their Beehive State debut with a bang, complete with a firework show at the Delta Center and a 4-2 win over the Peoria Rivermen.

Hockey-hungry fans, starved for the sport after the Salt Lake Golden Eagles departed 17 months earlier, were excited to cheer on the defending 1994-95 IHL champs.

The Grizzlies erased a 2-1 deficit in the second period. Goalkeeper Jamie McLennan, who spent time with the Golden Eagles in 1993-94, only had to deal with 23 shots, and the two goals he gave up came on power plays.
