Pac-12 action on the gridiron is upon us and for the No. 18 Utah Utes, it's a much-hyped trip to No. 13 Oregon. Utah linebacker Jared Norris discusses the Utes' 3-0 start, opening conference play and preparing to face Oregons offense.
The big question heading into the game on Oregon's side of the ball is whether or not senior quarterback Vernon Adams will play. Adams, a transfer from Eastern Washington, is a bit of a mystery in the Pac-12 as someone coming up from the FCS level. However, he has 13 touchdowns in two starts against Pac-12 opponents and Utah's linebackers coach Justin Ena, had to plan against Adams when Ena was Southern Utah's defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013. "(Ena) compares (Adams) a lot to (Utah State quarterback) Chuckie Keeton," Norris says. "He's not as shifty, but he's quick and he's really decisive on where he's going to run the ball. He's a good runner, so we've got to keep him contained and he can throw the ball as well, so our corners have to lock down."
Norris also discusses how important the game is for the Utes, with this matchup circled on the calendar since the schedule came out.
In addition, you will hear from snippets from Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich's conference call this week, as he describes the Utes.
Also on the show, Pac-12 Networks coordinating producer Michael Tolajian discusses filming process for "The Drive," which debuted on Wednesday. The documentary series is in its third season and Tolajian describes the recording process, the similarities between Kyle Whittingham and Gary Anderson and also hours of footage shot for the 30-minute show.
