Elder Richard G. Scott, a nuclear engineer, a talented artist and an apostle known for his tender sermons and love of family, died Tuesday at home surrounded by his family 1:45 p.m. He was 86.

Elder Scott, who served as an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 27 years, was fourth in seniority in the Quorum of the Twelve at the time of his death.
