Real Salt Lake defender Justen Glad and midfielder Jordan Allen will be headed to Denver to participate in the Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game next week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Glad and Allen are two of 22 up-and-comers from MLS club youth academies that comprise the Homegrown Team, which will be coached by MLS legend Landon Donovan. The team will take on Club America Under-20 team July 28 in Denver as a part of the MLS All-Star festivities.
The Homegrown roster has members from 16 MLS teams.
Allen, 20 years old, has one goal and two assists in 15 games this season for RSL. His lone goal of the year lifted RSL past Toronto FC on March 29. Glad, 18, made his RSL debut in May after spending time at the Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy.
The All-Star festivities will conclude with the All-Star game on July 29. RSL defender Tony Beltran and goalkeeper Nick Rimando will participate in that game for RSL.
