As temperatures rise above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Indian capital, slum dwellers take refuge from the heat on rooftop cots known as charpoys. The slum in the center of New Delhi is home to thousands of people. Apart from the heat, summer brings other dangers including swarms of mosquitoes bred in the open sewage lines and standing puddles throughout the shantytown.
