5A FIRST ROUND

LONE PEAK 59, ALTA 57: Kelsey McCann led the third-seeded Knights to an upset of second-seeded Alta with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. She added six blocks and seven rebounds in the victory that allows the Knights to advance in the 5A tournament. They face Fremont on Wednesday.

FREMONT 59, WEST 19: Harley Hansen led the Silver Wolves to a first-round win with 18 points. The win means Fremont will play Lone Peak in Wednesday's quarterfinals.

DAVIS 44, HUNTER 36: Fourth seeded Davis upset Region 2 champion Hunter behind Kayley Neilson's 20 points. Kimauri Toia led Hunter with 16 points. The win means Davis will face American Fork in the 5A quarterfinals on Wednesday.

AMERICAN FORK 49, COPPER HILLS 38: The Cavemen earned a first-round victory behind Paige Farnsworth's 13 points. The victory means American Fork will play fourth-seeded Davis in Wednesday's quarterfinal round. Shirsten Wissinger led the Grizzlies with 19 points.

VIEWMONT 43, GRANGER 18: The Vikings earned a lopsided victory behind Katie Toole's 17 points and Mercedes Staples 15 points. Melisa Kadic led the Lancers with seven points.

RIVERTON 53, BINGHAM 45: Riverton used a late run to get by Bingham and advance to the second round of the 5A state playoffs. The Silverwolves were led by Kirsten Spencer, and her game-high 15 points. The Miners were led by Leya Harvey and Jade Sine, who both scored a team-high 14.

BRIGHTON 49, WESTLAKE 45: Dani Barton left the game with an ankle injury, but she still led the Bengals' offense with 21 points as Brighton advanced in the 5A state tournament. Alyssa Hirschi added 11 points, while Lindsey Johnson finished with nine points. Westlake was led by Jennaka Christensen, who scored 14 points.

LAYTON 56, TAYLORSVILLE 43: Hailey Bassett led Layton with a game-high 19 points to lead the Lancers to a 56-43 win over Taylorsville in the first round of the 5A state playoffs. Clara Wood added 15.
