ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — All Utah teams stand in fourth place after Thursday at the National High School Finals Rodeo. The boys team has 1,917 points, trailing top-ranked Texas at 3,195. The girls team has 1,451.1 points, trailing No. 1 South Dakota at 1,890. Overall, Utah has 3,368.1 points, and Texas leads with 4,955.

Ashley Allen and Karista Nusink are in the running for all-around cowgirl at seventh and ninth, respectively. Nusink is fifth in pole bending with an average of 40.793 and 21st in barrel racing. Allen was eighth after the second round of goat tying, but wasn’t ranked in the average standings. She is in 24th place in breakaway roping.

Rusty Wright and brother Ryder Wright are neck and neck in saddle bronc riding, but have fallen to fifth and sixth.

Madi Harris is the top Utahn in barrel racing as her average score of 35.451 is good for eighth place. Shaylyn Carter is in 19th with a 35.737. Rylee Dick is ninth in girls cutting with an average of 284. Kacee Waldron trails at 17th with a 278, while Shalee King’s 127 left her unranked.

In boys cutting, Wyatt Misrasi’s average of 273 put him in 16th, while Ladd King wasn’t ranked after a 140. Austin Sutch was 19th in steer wrestling after an average of 21.45. In tie-down roping, Dax Barnson just cracked the top 10 with an average of 23.11, while slipping to 22nd in team roping.

Josie Moody is in the top 15 in pole bending with a 41.846. Corrinne’s Jessica Brinkerhoff had a ranking of seventh after the second round of breakaway roping, but wasn’t ranked. In goat tying, Emmalee Dubois is 21st with an average of 21.99.

Altamont’s Derrik Thomson wasn’t ranked in bareback riding.
