RSL forward Alvaro Saborio has been called up to the Costa Rican national team to play in an international friendly against Paraguay on March 5, RSL team officials announced Thursday.

The team announced Saborio will leave RSL Sunday to join up with the Costa Rican national team on Sunday for the game that will be held in the San Jose, Costa Rica. He will rejoin RSL before its season opener against the LA Galaxy on March 8.

Saborio helped the Costa Rican team qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup last year, scoring twice in nine appearances during the CONCACAF Hexagonal. He made five starts for the Costa Rican team in that span.

Saborio started in 15 games for RSL in 2013, scoring 12 goals in the regular season. He also scored once during RSL's postseason run.
