With BYU's season opener at Virginia just five days away, the Cougars' depth chart is taking shape. BYU returns eight starters on offense and six on the defensive side of the ball.
The Cougars have plenty of youth among their two-deep on offense, including sophomores Taysom Hill (quarterback), Jamaal Williams (running back) and Ryker Mathews (left tackle), combined with proven seniors at the wide receiver position — Cody Hoffman, JD Falslev and Skyler Ridley.
On defense, a strong senior group of linebackers — including Kyle Van Noy, Spencer Hadley and Uani Unga — leads the way, while safeties Daniel Sorensen (senior) and Craig Bills (junior) also are experienced returnees. Sophomores Bronson Kaufusi and Remington Peck will have opportunities to contribute on the defensive line.
