BEAVER 7, AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 2: Beaver remained unbeaten on the season by jumping out to an early lead against American Leadership in the first round of the 2A state tournament.
MILLARD 9, SUMMIT ACADEMY 7: Millard upset Region 14 champion Summit Academy in the first round of the 2A state tournament.
GUNNISON 6, SAN JUAN 4: Gunnison overcame an early 3-1 deficit to knock off San Juan in the first round of the 2A state tournament.
KANAB 16, SOUTH SUMMIT 4: Kanab rolled past South Summit into the second round of the 2A state tournament.
RICHFIELD 6, MANTI 2: Richfield upset top-ranked Manti in the opening round of the state tournament with an impressive pitching performance.
PAROWAN 9, ROWLAND HALL 0: Jake Topham tossed a complete-game shut out to lead Parowan to the victory over Rowland in the first round of the 2A state tournament at Grand High School.
GRAND 9, ENTERPRISE 2: Koi Cook went 3-for-3 at the plate with a homer, a triple, and a double to lead the Red Devils to a 9-2 win over the Wolves. Cook knocked in five RBIs and also scored three times. Freshman Dalton McElhaney went the distance on the mound, allowing just two hits and striking out seven batters.
GRAND 15, PAROWAN 10: Koi Cook went 4-for-4, scoring three times and knocking in 3 RBIs for the Red Devils. He also went the distance on the mound, picking up the pitching win. All nine Grand players had at least one base hit, and all of them also scored at least one run. Cameron Taylor added a two-run homer in the third inning as the Red Devils pulled away for good.
ENTERPRISE 14, ROWLAND HALL 1: The Wolves opened up a big lead early on and coasted to victory, keeping themselves alive in the one-loss bracket until the 2A tournament continues next week.
EMERY 3, BEAVER 2: Emery advanced through the 2A winners bracket by handing Beaver its first loss of the season.
NORTH SEVIER 10, AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 2
MILLARD 17, GUNNISON 2: Erick Alcala went 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs while Derek Martinez picked up the complete-game victory to lead Millard past Gunnison in the 2A playoffs. Dakota Bullock also homered for the Eagles in the win.
SAN JUAN 8, SUMMIT ACADEMY 2: San Juan put a 5-spot up on the board in the third inning and cruised the rest of the way to defeat Summit Academy. Mason Shumway cracked two doubles and Logan Meyer earned the win from the hill for the Broncos.
MANTI 10, SOUTH SUMMIT 0: Manti's big third and sixth innings propelled the Templars over South Summit. Colin Haymond and Tristan Olsen each belted triples, while TJ Pogroszewski earned the win from the hill to lead Manti.
AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 3, GUNNISON 2: The Eagles eked out a victory over Gunnison to advance to the 2A semifinals.
SUMMIT ACADEMY 3, OAKLEY 2: Summit Academy overcame an early one-goal to deficit to rally past Oakley on the road to advance to the semifinals.
MANTI 6, MERIT ACADEMY 5: Manti jumped out to a 4-1 lead at the break, only to have Merit Academy erase the deficit in the second half and send the game to overtime. Carlos Garcia's third goal of the day came in the extra period and helped lift the Templars over the Tigers.
ST. JOSEPH 1, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 0: Keyanu Tate scored the game's only goal in the opening minute of the second half, ricocheting a shot off the right post and into the net, and the Jayhawks made that score stand up the rest of the way to reach the state semifinals for the fifth time in six years. St. Joe goalkeeper Mitch Koehler earned his ninth shutout of the season, helped along by a strong defensive effort that limited the visiting Eagles to very few solid scoring opportunities, while Layton Christian 'keeper Berke Kalemotou stopped several shots by the Jayhawks.
CEDAR 0, PARK CITY 0 (PARK CITY WON SHOOTOUT 6-5): Jesus Valeriano netted the final penalty kick to give the Miners the edge in the quarterfinal showdown. Goalkeepers Casey Sederman (Park City) and Kaeland Osborne (Cedar City) both earned shutouts and led their respective defensive efforts in the tight contest.
WASATCH 3, DIXIE 3: Facing a 3-1 deficit at the break, Dixie came out in the second half and netted two goals to send the game to overtime. Neither team could gain an advantage in either overtimes, and Cody Cowley came up with some huge stops between the posts in the shootout to help the Wasps escape with the narrow victory. Domey Espinoza led the way for Wasatch with two scores.
SALEM HILLS 2, BEAR RIVER 0: Salem Hills scored two early runs and held on to defeat Bear River in a defensive battle. Kirtlyn Bohling was dominant in the circle, fanning 12 batters and only giving up two hits in the shut-out victory. Bailey Trapp tripled for the Bears in the loss.
MANTI 9, HUNTER 8: Manti got their bats going in the bottom of the fifth inning and put up seven runs to escape with the narrow victory over Hunter. Kali Thompson led the Templars with a double and a win from the mound.
