PROVO After BYU clawed its way back into the game, BYU's Matt Carlino made a 3-pointer to tie the score at 52 with five minutes remaining in the game.

The teams saw five lead changes in the final five minutes of the game. BYU ended up taking the largest lead three points on a pair of free throws from Tyler Haws with 17 seconds remaining.

In those final seconds, Utah's Glen Dean had a good look to send the game to overtime, but his shot was just short as the Cougars stole a rivalry victory, 61-58.

Carlino finished the game with 19 points, shooting seven for 13 from the field. Tyler haws had a 9-point second half to lead BYU.

The Utes were led by Jordan Loveridge, who finished with 14 points.
