Scott Layden got a long-term contract and a new title with the Jazz after being named a candidate for vice president of basketball operations with the Milwaukee Bucks and general manager of the Detroit Pistons. Formerly the Jazz's director of player personnel, he is now the director of basketball operations. Layden was involved in bringing Karl Malone and John Stockton to Utah, as well as acquiring Jeff Malone and Tyrone Corbin via trades.
