Lowell Summerhays Walker Sr.Sept. 27,1931- Feb. 27,2012On February 27, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather lost his courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 27,1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Milton and Emma Walker. He graduated from South High and afterwards attended the University of Utah. He served a three year LDS mission to Samoa and while serving his mission was drafted to serve his country in the Korean War. After the war, he was stationed in Europe where he met the love of his life, Joyce Ombach Walker. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in October of 1958. He supported his family by working for Granite Furniture Company for 30 years. Lowell was an avid outdoorsman up until the last year of his life. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings throughout his life. The pride and joy of his life were his wife, Joyce and his 5 children, Lanette (Troy) Richardson, Janene (Todd Gorzitze, Lowell (Merlee) Walker, Larry (Michelle) Walker and Julie (Kent) Goodrich and his 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 sisters and 1 brother, along with his faithful dog Gus.The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care he received from Utah Hospice Specialists.A viewing will be held Saturday,March 3,2012 from 9:00-10:45, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 at the Little Valley 3rd Ward Chapel, 2079 East 2450 South, St. George, Utah. There will be another viewing on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 9:30-11:00 at the Valley View 3rd Ward Chapel, 1925 East Gunderson Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah.
