Beginning July 1, the Utah County City-County Health Department will charge $8 for each dose of diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus vaccine. Polio and measles-mumps-rubella immunizations will remain at the current price of $3 per dose.

The increase is because the federal government recently imposed a surcharge on each dose of DPT vaccine to create a vaccine injury fund that would compensate people who in very rare incidents suffer permanent injury from the vaccine.State law requires that all children entering school this fall have received at least four DPT, one MMR and three polio immunizations. Parents are encouraged to bring their children in before lines get long in August.

The Health Department Immunization Clinic is at 589 S. State Street (near Ninth East) and is open every weekday morning from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. weekday afternoons except Thursdays.
