A magazine designed to educate parents, teachers and counselors about youth drug and alcohol abuse will be distributed in Utah during August and September.
The Adolescent Counselor Magazine, published bimonthly by Sharon Hearn, a registered nurse, is designed to help parents, adolescents, schools and the community help children overcome their drug and alcohol problems.Hearn said the magazine is an important part of the solution to drug and alcohol abuse. She said it can help those who work with youth, including parents, to understand the effects of alcohol and drugs and to help them be effective when confronting a child about their use.
More than 10,000 magazines have been distributed free at education conferences. Hearn said the response, especially from parents, has been tremendous.
Hearn will be in Salt Lake City June 17-22. She will meet with LDS Church officials, national PTA leaders and other concerned political and business leaders about the magazine.
