A fireball can be a surprisingly hot piece of candy or a giant burning cloud, but a firemen's ball is cool and always fun, says Laura Western.
She is helping to put on the South Davis Fire District's annual Firemen's Ball June 18 at the district's Station No. 2, Main and Center streets, North Salt Lake.Western, who is publicity chairman for the South Davis Fire District Auxiliary, said the dinner will be roast beef and turkey "and everybody always gets filled up," she added.
Dinner is at 7 p.m., and dancing, to the accompaniment of the country-western band Steel Rail, starts at 8 p.m. There will be door prizes, and a half beef, turkeys and hams will be given away, she said.
Firemen's Ball tickets are $20 per couple and can be obtained from the district's firefighters or by calling Station No. 1, at 295-6622.
Proceeds from the ball will be used to buy fire equipment for the district, Western said.
