Gov. Norm Bangerter and his opponent in the 1988 Utah gubernatorial race, former Salt Lake Mayor Ted Wilson, will debate campaign issues July 14 at the Utah Farm Bureau Federation's annual Midyear Conference in Park City.

Farm Bureau president Ken Ashby said this will be the first debate between the two candidates and will occur "before an audience of rural Utahns. I think this is a recognition by these men of the importance of a strong rural Utah to the future of this state."The UFB conference, slated July 14-15 at the Olympic Hotel in Park City, will also host a panel of environmentalists who will explain their position on land use and environmental issues.

Workshops and motivational speakers are also scheduled, Ashby said, and will focus on the changes and challenges in modern agriculture that affect rural Utah.
