An essay contest and children's parade will be among events of Riverton Town Days July 2-4.

"Riverton Pride" is the theme of this year's essay contest. Entries must be 75 words or less and submitted to Riverton City Hall before June 22, a press release said.

Prize money will be awarded to writers in three age groups: 4-12, 13-18 and 18 and over. Winners will also read their essays on stage and ride in the annual Fourth of July parade.

The first children's parade, with the theme "Children - Our Future Pride," will be at 10 a.m. July 2. Children under 12 are invited to participate.

The parade will begin and end at City Hall. Entrants are encouraged to be creative but no motorized vehicles will be allowed.

Entry forms are available at City Hall, 7-Eleven stores and the city library. For information call Sharon at 254-4848.
