It contains full summaries of services offered by business assistance programs from agencies such as the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Grant Data Center and the Small Business Answer Desk. It also lists eligibility requirements (if any), telephone numbers and mailing addresses for every resource listed.Topics discussed in the directory are patent licensing, exporting, obtaining loan guarantees, site location, technology development, technical and management information, planning, procurement, employee training, product marketing and information, venture financing and locating wage information.

The directory is prepared and published by the Center for the Utilization of Federal Technology, a special program located at NTIS to increase business use of federal government resources and technologies.
