"Willie"

Wilbert Hartley Anderson, age 80, passed away, December 9, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah.He was born June 20, 1919 in Standardville, Utah to Outney and Sylvia Hartley Anderson. He married Venna Sorensen on July 31, 1940 in Salt Lake City. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Willie retired from the Salt Lake City Police Department after 27 years of service. He was a self employed upholstery craftsman all his life. He was a Cops League Coach for 16 years and the Security Administrator for Pearson Enterprises for 10 years. He played basketball, football and baseball in his youth in high school and at Snow College. He enjoyed a private love for poetry, loved crossword puzzles and was artistically gifted. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from the Navy and Army. He was especially fond of babies and small children. Willie was known as the neighborhood fix-it man and was a champion of the less fortunate.

Survived by wife of 60 years, Venna; sons, James Lynn (Ema); David M. (Cheryl); Steven C. (Sherry); Ronald L. (Jerilyn); daughters, Karen Duncan (Richard H.); Mary Stephens (Darrel); and Janet Severson (Mark J.); 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Verda Amundsen (Whit), Fairview, UT. Preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters and daughter-in-law, Barbara Mathews Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at 12 noon at the Emerson LDS Ward Chapel, 1621 So. 1100 East. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening and at the Ward, Tuesday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Willie will be deeply missed by all of his dear loved ones.
