Motorists traveling on U-95 from the junction of U-276 east to the junction of U-275 in San Juan County should expect considerable traffic interference during the next two weeks.

A Utah Department of Transportation crew will be doing chip seal work on the 10-mile section of road. Traffic will be restricted to only one lane where work is being done. Flaggers will help direct traffic through the construction zone, where a restrictive speed limit of 25 mph will be posted for several weeks. Pebbles can be loosened from the new asphalt layer and thrown onto vehicles traveling faster than 25 mph.Chip sealing involves spraying liquid asphalt on the highway surface and spreading and rolling small gravel chips into the asphalt material, after which the excess chips are swept off. This comparatively low-cost preventive maintenance helps avert a more extensive and costly resurfacing project.
